PRIDE….

Proverbs 16:18 Pride goes before destruction,a haughty spirit before a fall. ~ The Bible (NIV)

Are you prideful? C’mon we’ve all been at times! You know when you have so much or that you have been told something about yourself that makes you just swell up. Believe your own hype/press/social media/selfie?

Have you ever been in a situation/circumstance that your pride could not get you out of? Your pride not serving you in this thing? Something that you simply cannot handle alone?

Okay…Keep calm (don’t panic because then you can’t think clearly) and ASK FOR HELP (reaching out to resources that may have solutions to your situation/circumstance).  Now I know that for some asking for help is like a big “I WOULD NEVER DO THAT.” or “I GOT THIS COVERED!” or the famous and sometimes right “I DON’T WANT ANYONE IN MY BUSINESS.” The idea of asking for help in most people’s eyes is a position you really don’t want to be in.

We all want to seem like we have it under control, efficiently know it all, can handle anything BUT this can be far from the truth in some situations/circumstances. And just because you may not have a solution to this or some unsettling situation does not mean you are incompetent or ignorant or a failure of sorts (in someone else’s eyes).

Asking for help can make you feel vulnerable and sometimes small. We have all been in a humbled state in our lives it truly makes you a better and more empathetic person.

And you know what I’ve learned having been in humbling situations myself is that “There is a GRACIOUSNESS IN GIVING and a GRACIOUSNESS IN RECIEVING.”

So just what do I mean by graciousness. People who are givers in a situation are pushed to look at themselves too! Just because you may give does not constitute that you are a nice person or that you give without judging the other person. So a giver is not more of a better person than a person RECIEVING! You’re not better, no smarter, nor prettier nor more handsome…there is a grace because the way life is…the shoe can always be on the other foot and you’re the one asking for help! GET IT? Graciousness!

So, to those in need somehow in the Artist community is just a bit different because asking for help can make your business or project blossom or not asking for help or assistance when needed can make it tank!

Most Artists do need assistance, not so much in being creative but getting your creative project to the next level so it may be recognized or purchased or on social media. Being an Artist is very unique and requires more confidence and self starting than I think any other career path. I say that because Artists have to have an inner wellspring of faith, confidence and tenacity!
