Makeup has been my career for what will be close to 30years. In my tenure as a Makeup Artist I’ve not personally come across a New York State certified beauty school specifically catering to the education of budding Makeup Artists and Special Effects Makeup Makeup Artists.

I know you’re saying to yourself there are plenty of beauty schools around! Yes you are correct about that however, those are certified hair schools that only TOUCHES on the topic of makeup.

Until MUD Make-Up Designory located in the heart of the Financial District in New York City. Here’s a little bit about MUD’s beginnings taken from their website Bio:

“MUD: A Primer

A school by make-up artists, for make-up artists.

Make-Up Designory (MUD) was founded in 1997 in North Hollywood, California, bringing quality education and products to the make-up artist community. Today, we have two main campuses in Los Angeles and New York, ten MUD Studios worldwide, and courses in seven partner schools — bringing world class education to you in four continents, eight countries, and seventeen cities around the globe.

At MUD, we are dedicated to providing valuable training in the fundamentals of study. For this reason, both of our main campuses are accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC), a private, non-profit, independent accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education.

Each year, our schools train hundreds of students from around the world in a variety of make-up specialties. Whether a student chooses the intricacies of prosthetics or the delicacy of beauty make-up, Make-Up Designory prepares the student to begin a journey as a make-up artist.”

So knowing a bit about the makings of MUD and seeing them represented at IMATS NY I did my MUA Homework and dug a little deeper one afternoon via Internet. And as I just so happened to be digging deeper into MUD, MUD was digging deeper into me! SERENDIPITY! I check I my email inbox and I have a formal invitation from MUD to join them and their students as a guest lecturer!! OMG NO WAY!!

I’m so thrilled and honored to have been asked to come and so blessed that I did! I didn’t think it would happen due to my schedule and serveral postponements on their end due to moving from one end of Manhattan to another then getting settled in.

I was a bit flustered by the butterflies in my tummy as I made my way past the new World Trade Center towards the school. I’d promised myself I’d never come down this way again…EVER!

But truly it was PASSION that bought me down here and passion that started my career, passionate love of Makeup Arts, my passion bought me to this point in my life. And the students passion was why I was requested to have this session. And I am truly honored and humbly grateful!

My 2015 Go-To Skincare…BOSCIA

2015/01/img_2185.jpg
Written by NZINGHA for TheGlamSquadFiles™

So this is a New Year and a new season. I’m not the “resolutions” Lady however I have one thing I have started committing to since December 2014…that is my skincare regimen!! I AM COMMITTED TO TAKING CARE OF MY SKIN!!! NO SHORTCUTS!!

2015/01/img_2196.jpg
Well, to begin I had already had well over 500 SEPHORA Beauty Points and had already purchased some Boscia products. I simply will not do without my Makeup Breakeup Cooling Oil Makeup Remover. This is what I remove all my makeup with gently and efficiently and without harming my skin. It also moisturizes as is removes the makeup…even the hardcore waterproof ones.

So, I get this email from SEPHORA telling me I have the opportunity to cash in on my points so I thought okay why not this time and since one of the gifts is a trial size set of the Black Book by BOSCIA I felt it was time to cash in and get my BLACK GOLD!!! Yay!!! Gotta love SEPHORA for that!!

2015/01/img_2194.jpg
Well here’s my gift set and boy am I excited the timing on this couldn’t be more perfect since I’m committed to taking care of my skin all year long!

In this gift set you will find

1) Cleanser
2) Moisturizer
3) Pore Strips
4) Peel off Mask

The only thing that’s missing from this lineup is the T-zone Pore Minimizer Gel. It comes in a lovely little box and says your SEPHORA Beauty Insider Gift. The containers are max .07 oz which is fine to test out the products.

The Detox Black Cleanser
So here’s what you start your cleansing regimen with. That’s right your cleanser!!! Love to use this to cleanse after I remove my makeup with the Makeup Breakup Oil. This removes any additional residue of makeup hiding on any parts of the face you may have missed with the makeup remover.

It’s got the charcoal in it and has a clean spa scent and has moderate lather which is good because you don’t want to dry out the skin with all that active foaming going against the moisturizing, detoxing and pore minimizing properties of this product. As you apply it and start working up that lather you will feel a warming sensation. Now, just rise your face like you normally would.

“AUTHENTICITY”…2015!

Written by NZINGHA for TheGlamSquadFiles™

The word that I lived by in 2014 was TRANSPARENCY…being able to see through all things, situations, circumstances, people and allowing my own life’s transparency to show. It was a tumultuous but blessed year. It was a time to acknowledge that I like many people are BEAUTIFULLY FLAWED!

Being beautifully flawed really translates as being human. Making choices that may not be the best but isn’t that what humans do? We love, we create and we are muses for life!

Now, let me be clear I am not the Lady for New Years resolutions. I am a doer…JUST DO IT…making promises to myself and displaying them as a banner for public approval is just a show I’d never buy a ticket to.

But as always showing up to life I have been hearing this word on repeat in my spirit…AUTHENTICITY! The root word in authenticity is authentic.

Well, what does authentic mean?

au·then·tic
\ə-ˈthen-tik, ȯ-\
adjective
: real or genuine : not copied or false

: true and accurate

: made to be or look just like an original

At the close of 2014 I had an epiphany…that I AM AN ORIGINAL!! I am NOT a COPY or a VERSION OF something or someone else. There is only one of me, no matter how many people show up in the world now with my name (which in itself is a unique one, no walking in a souvenir shop and finding my name printed on a cup, plate, name belt or necklace or magnetized door sticker!)

I guess all my life I’ve kind of known that and at times those shoes were hard to walk in! Some people won’t always understand or be able to stand under the light you bring but simply and graciously BE YOURSELF!

All of what you and I have been through in years past brings us all to this point. You will see you will come to a place where you no longer hide your light, your gifts, your intelligence, your beauty, your purpose under cover for fear you may come face to face with someone or perhaps a group of people’s disapproval BUT,….BE YOURSELF!

My personal thought and focus this year is to be AUTHENTICALLY & UNAPOLOGETICALLY ME!

Happy New Year viZionaire!
